Spring is Tea Party Time!

We hope you’re thirsty…
February threw a lot of obstacles at us, slowing down the progress that we had hoped to have done on our next Kickstarter project, but it’s been a very productive weekend!! The Kickstarter campaign for Epic Monster Tea Party has been submitted and approved, and the main story section will be finished today. All we have left is to figure out some stretch goals that will get you guys excited about the game (although this game is incredibly exciting all on its own!) and to finish that blasted video that we keep putting off. Still not sure why we’re so apprehensive about turning on a camera and talking, but the first time’s always the hardest, right? (Please tell me it will get easier!!) After all, I’ve seen some pretty stinky self-made videos that worked just fine. We’ve got to be better than those. (Oh please let us be better than those.)

Are you on our mailing list?
I’m going to be putting together a newsletter later today about what everyone can expect in our new Kickstarter adventure. Subscribers will get notice about the official launch date and time before we post it on all of our social media channels. We’ll be offering a limited number of “Early Bird” pricing as one of the reward tiers, so the advance notice could end up saving you a little bit of cash!! (It’s a small discount, but still a discount. We’re trying to raise funds here, after all.) If you’d like to add your email to our newsletter list, you can sign up at the bottom of our “Contact Us” page on the website. We don’t send them out often, so you don’t have to worry about us blowing up your inbox. Monthly updates is what we’re going to try to keep them to, but during Kickstarter campaigns, you may see a few more than usual.

Email Subscribe Playco Games

That’s what’s going on here for now. I’m going to get back to building our campaign. If you need some fun games to keep you busy while you wait for it, Civicus Dice Game and Danger! Danger! Dinosaur are available right now for order.

“I have picked up the games, delivery starts…”

That title, folks, is a direct quote from our European distributor!! Your games are officially on the last leg of their journey to you. We promised to let you known when that was happening, so here it is.

I recently saw a comment on the DDD Kickstarter page about wishing we would communicate on there as much as we do here, and I feel it needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, the way things were set up when everything started, the only way for us to comment through Kickstarter is to send messages through others to post for us. That is not always convenient for everyone involved, so we ask that from now on, please reach out to us on this website, through our social media, or by email at Our next Kickstarter project has remedied this problem, so we will be able to reach out through its page during the new campaign. This is still a young company, but we have learned a lot, and vow to keep improving.

As for a Kickstarter update about Epic Monster Tea Party, the January launch date eluded our grasp (since February is only a couple of days away,) but we have high hopes that it’s extremely close. There is a play-test scheduled for this week which I hope to document and use in our Kickstarter video. That video, plus a couple of tweaks on the page design, and we should be ready to submit it for approval. I am having an awesome time mastering Photoshop, learning all kinds of cool tricks. I hope you all like the look once it’s done. Mike & I know you’ll love the game!!

Okay, back to work on it!!

Pre-Kickstarter Mode Initiated

Not a lot has been going on with Playco Games recently. Pretty much all of our focus has been on getting Epic Monster Tea Party ready to launch on Kickstarter. There is a LOT to tackle to make sure everything looks right and truly conveys the awesomeness of this family game, all while trying to not overthink everything to the point that we drive ourselves crazy and don’t get anything accomplished as a result. I just keep repeating “Keep It Simple Stupid” to myself. The game really is great, and the people that have played it love it right away, so it really doesn’t need a lot of extra bells and whistles. We’re shipping a demo out to some reviewers soon, and plan to do a little playtesting in the Springfield & Lake of the Ozarks areas.

As for the European fulfillment of Danger! Danger! Dinsosaur, we got word from our European distributor that the games are in the country and Harald has what he needs to get them from customs. (WOO-HOO) Once he does, we’ll let you know when he begins shipping them out. It truly should not be long now. (I write while knocking on wood that I haven’t said too much and jinxed something!!!!!!) Seriously though, we are sorry for everything that has caused delays. We hope the game play is worth the wait. (We believe it is.)

Well, today’s post is short and sweet, but I’ve got lots on my plate to finish so this will have to do. I was serious about blogging more often from now on. What would make that a lot more fun is to hear from some of you!! Shoot us a note on Facebook or Twitter, or even better, tag us in a photo of you enjoying one of our games. That would really be awesome!! Hopefully we’ll be hearing from you soon, and you will definitely be hearing from us.

New Year, New Projects

Hi guys!! Deanna here.

Long time, no posts… I know. Well, I’m making a New Year’s resolution right now to post more often. (FYI, did you know that January 17 is “Ditch Your New Year’s Resolutions Day?”) Don’t worry, that’s meant to be funny (although it is a real day), and I have no intention of breaking this resolution, but throwing it out there just in case I slack a little. Love covering all my bases. He-he!!

I am taking over building the campaign for Playco Games’ next Kickstarter – Epic Monster Tea Party!! If you joined us at Origins Game Fair last year, you might remember that we had planned to get the Kickstarter going right after the convention. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances put things on hold for a while, but that’s all resolved and we’re ready for a busy and exciting 2017. That excitement begins with Epic Monster Tea Party – a family-fun fantasy game about monsters making a tasty tea full of victory points out of heroes. Everyone that play-tested it at Origins and Gen Con last year loved it and were wanting to buy a copy and take it home that day.

Well, in just a few weeks (hopefully sooner, but I’m leaving us a time cushion) it will be on Kickstarter and one step closer to coming into your home! The basic game is really awesome, but if we can find enough backers, we may be able to make it a little fancier. Keep an eye out for updates and the launch date. Fingers crossed it will be soon! I think the hardest part will be making the video, so any and all encouragement and/or advice is welcome and appreciated. (We really need to just turn on the camera, start talking, and see what happens.)

Watch for Epic Monster Tea Party on Kickstarter very soon!! (And PLEASE become a backer!!)

Danger! Danger! Dinosaur’s Kickstarter is finally in it’s final delivery stage. There was some confusion with customs and delivery to our European distributor, but those seem to be fixed now and the European orders have been re-sent to the distributor. As soon as we have confirmation that they’ve been received, we’ll update everyone. Sorry for the extended delay, but hopefully you’ll love this first installment in the Danger! Danger! series as much as we do.

How many of you have had the chance to play Civicus Dice Game and/or Danger! Danger! Dinosaur already? We would LOVE to have some feedback about what you think of them. If you had the time of your life playing, leave us a review and let others know all about how much fun these games are. If you weren’t that impressed, then we need to know why. Our goal is to make games that are awesome and fun to play. Constructive criticism (note “constructive”, not the mean stuff) helps us to improve and keep the world playing board games

Keep an eye out on Kickstarter for Epic Monster Tea Party. An easy way to stay up-to-date is to follow us on social media. Playco Games is on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and even Google+. (Do any of you use Google+ besides Google?) Until next time, (which will be soon because I made a resolution!!) have a great beginning of a new year. Hopefully that greatness will last the entire 12 months and beyond!!

A Blast at Toy & Game Fair 2015 in Chicago

We had a blast with everyone in Chicago for ChiTAG 2015 (Chicago Toy & Game Fair).

The event was packed with wall-to-wall fun and game demos. I’m always so impressed with our fellow game makers and the creativity exhibited at these events. We even met a few familiar faces along the way. It was really great to see everyone out enjoying games and gaming.

ord1The fireworks display on Michigan Avenue was a highlight! Chicago is a fantastic host city for our event.

Thank you, ChiTAG for such a well-organized event and for remaining a hub for game players and makers. We will certainly see you all next year!
